Hysteria and Legends: Gordon Fecyk

If I'm going to start lambasting the anti-spam industry community, I might as well start with myself.
Feel free to send more missives about my antics, so I can laugh at them too.

Oh where should I begin... I've nearly fought the DragonBackhoe of Anghor, nearly faced the Vicious ChickenSpam Of Bristol, and even cavorted with members of The Lumber Cartel at the Battle of Badon HillBremerton.

If I'm going to start lambasting the anti-spam industrycommunity, I might as well start with myself. Feel free to send more missives about my antics, so I can laugh at them too.

My anti-spam career really started when I first worked for In-Line Consulting (dead URL) in Vancouver BC. When not answering tech support calls, I was allowed to experiment with technology available, and constructed my very first Internet server based on Windows NT 3.51. I took that to Intouch Internet (since bought by Netrover) where I began my exposure to spam, and was forever corrupted in the spam war.

Past attempts to reduce bandwidth and abuse include the Windows 95 FAQ, the Orca Dial-up User List and a few plugins for EMWAC IMS, still the smallest and most efficient NT based mail transfer agent. C|NET even called me a guru.

I started ESM because the anti-spam 'industry' takes itself far too serious these days. Hysterical businesses and even more hysterical anti-spammers fight each other every day and the Internet is losing. I'm not interested in selling the cure to spam here, however. I'm interested in selling the truth. And it's yours, free of charge. Your only real cost is in the bandwidth you paid for to view this site.
